HAZARDOUS MATERIALS / CHEMICAL SAFETY:

GHS Hazard Communication (2 - 4 hrs):

Covers rules governing the subject, what is a hazardous material, how to look up & understand a Safety Data Sheet, hazardous material containers, labeling, and hazardous materials in the workplace.

Hazardous Materials Level I:

Basics of Hazardous Materials recognition, includes types of hazardous materials, containers, labeling and notification of authorities when spill occurs.

Hazardous Materials Level II ( 16 hrs):

A more advanced level, allowing the student to act as an operational responder. Permitting them to dike, divert, absorb or otherwise contain a hazardous materials spill without contact with the product.

Hazardous Materials Level III (Tree Crop) (24 hrs):

Student will receive the technical knowledge to contain and control, through plugging, patching and other spill control methods that include contact with the substance.

This course prepares the student for command of hazardous materials incident which include knowledge of the ICS (Incident Command System). The course teaches the command techniques, span of control and application to the farming incident as well as operating with other agencies.

Worker Protection Standard / Chemical Safety (4 hrs):

This includes certification for the “Worker” as well as the “Handler”. Topics include Reading and Understanding Chemical Information in the SDS and on the Label, Personal Protective Equipment, Mixing and Loading, Spill Prevention, Contamination, and Decontamination, Environmental Hazards and Re-Entry Intervals.

Chlorine Safety (1-2 hrs):

This class includes the chemical properties of Chlorine, Containers for Chlorine, Health and Environmental Hazards, Release Implications, Evacuation, Detecting Leaks, Personal Protective Equipment.

Fumigant Safety (1-2 hrs):

This class includes the chemical properties, Containers for Pic-Clor 60 and Chloropicrin, Health and Environmental Hazards, Release Implications, Evacuation, Detecting Leaks, Personal Protective Equipment. The class also includes loading for application and chemical delivery systems.

Mixing and Loading (1-2 hrs):

This class identifies the hazards of mixing agricultural chemicals, chemical hazards, proper protective clothing and spill prevention.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (1 hr):

Respirators, gloves, eyewear and chemical protection clothing.

EQUIPMENT / MACHINERY:

Backhoe / Loader Safety ( 1 hr);

General safety practices and operating rules for anyone assigned the job of operating a backhoe. Also covers basic operator maintenance procedures

Tractor Safety (PTO) (1 hr):

The training includes topics such as daily Pre-Start Inspections, Fire Hazards, Stability Issues and Hazardous Terrain in Operation, Power Take Off Units and Entanglement.

Mower Safety / Spreader Safety / Sprayer Safety (1 hr):

This training includes topics such as Daily Pre Use Inspections, Hazard Areas including Decks, Bat Wing Systems, Hydraulics, PTO Entanglement and Hazardous Operations. Spreader entanglement areas, loading and distributing hazards, sprayer component hazards, entering spray tanks, chemical safety.

Tomato Harvesting Safety:

Curriculum is based on the Johnson Tomato Harvester Equipment. Covers back safety hazards, operating procedures, machine guarding, PPE and more.

Citrus Harvesting Safety (1-2 hrs):

Covers proper picking, using equipment correctly, proper clothing / shoes / arm guards. Also includes Eye Protection, Tree inspection, Tub placement, Ladders (choosing / carrying & placing).

ATV / 4 Wheeler Safety (2 hrs):

A lecture AND practical evolutions in the safe operation of 4 Wheelers, Gators and Mules. This includes pre-use inspections, weight distribution, speed, braking, road conditions and fire hazards. Also includes operations in the grove and on the farm. Chemical Safety pertaining to the Worker Protection Standard is included.

Irrigation Safety (1 hr):

This class explains various types of irrigation and pumps. Discusses personal protective equipment, crossing irrigation ditches, back injury prevention, shoveling techniques and maintenance, Electrical Safety and more.

Welding Safety (1 hr):

Training includes the hazards relating to different types of welding / cutting processes, protective equipment and safety procedures. The class also covers Gas Cylinders and Flash-burns.

Shop Safety (1 hr):

Hazards and safety procedures regarding grinders, cylinder storage, parts washers, hazardous material storage, electrical safety, hazardous waste, tools and equipment, fire safety, general storage and housekeeping.

Electrical Safety (1 hr):

Topics include types and sources of electricity, Lock Out / Tag Out, What to do during and after an electrocution and electrical hazards.

Forklift Operations (4 hrs):

This training includes requirements for Forklift Operators, Forklift operations and Forklift practical evolutions. Written and Practical Testing is Required.

Lock Out / Tag Out (1 hr):

This class covers the rules governing the securing of hazardous energy whether in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or other forms of stored energy, how to secure such energy, methods of locking out equipment, identifying defective components and the hazards of stored energy.

Hand & Power Tool Safety (1 hr):

Covers Hazards associated with Hand and Power Tools, General & Specific Safety Precautions, PPE & Guarding, Safety Controls and Switches, Types of Tools & Abrasive Wheels. Optional additional coverage on Chainsaw Safety.

Ladder Safety (1 hr):

Covers Ladder Inspection & Safe Ladder Procedures.

Conveyor Safety (1 hr):

Covers Conveyor Guarding, Safe Operating Procedures, Danger-Nip Points.

Crew Leader Training Program (16 hr):

Components of this program include CPR, Basic First Aid, Environmental Health Emergencies, Safe Driving on the Farm, Sexual Harassment, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Field Operations Safety.

HEALTH CARE:

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - CPR (4 HRS):

A course developed by the American Heart Association (Heart Saver CPR) or American Safety and Health which requires a student manual and successfully passing a written test and practical test.

Health Care Provider Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - CPR (8 HRS):

A course developed by the American Heart Association (Heart Saver CPR) or American Safety and Health which requires a student manual and successfully passing a written test and practical test.

First Aid (4 hrs):

1.) A course developed by the American Heart Association which requires a student manual and successfully passing a written and practical test. Class size limit = 10 Prerequisite: American Heart Association CPR 2.) American Health & Safety Institute “Basic First Aid” which requires a student manual and successfully passing a written test and practical test. Class limit = 10

First Responder (40 hrs):

Includes Health Care Provider CPR / AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), anatomy, child birth, medical emergencies, trauma, infection control, extrication.

Farm Medic / Equipment Extrication (16 hrs):

This class includes topics such as Lock Out / Tag Out, Hazardous Materials, Confined Space, Entrapment Hazards with equipment, disentanglement and Basic First Aid measures.

Back Injury Prevention (1 hr):

The training covers the anatomy of the back, methods of back injury, proper lifting procedures and injury prevention.

Eye Injury Prevention (1/2 hr):

Identification and prevention of eye injuries.

Hand Injuries (1 hr):

Designed to make hand safety a personal responsibility. Graphic coverage of actual workplace hand injuries.

Hearing Protection (1 hr):

This training includes the recognition of excessive noise levels, engineering controls to limit noise exposure and protective equipment to reduce noise exposure.

Slips / Trips / Fall Prevention (1/2 hr):

Covers the awareness of slipping / tripping hazards, appropriate footwear, keeping traffic areas free of hazards and visibility problems due to unexpected obstacles.

“Dealing with Drug and Alcohol Abuse” (2 hr):

This covers what substances are commonly abused, Alcohol and other depressants, Stimulants, Narcotics, and Hallucinogens. How people get “hooked”, Drug Dependency, Who can become an abuser, Drug and Alcohol Policies, and Helping employees overcome substance abuse.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

Lightning / Weather Safety (1 hr):

Includes hazardous weather recognitions, types of weather hazards, sources of refuge and returning to work (post storm).

Heat Emergencies (1 hr):

Topics such as Signs and Symptoms of Heat Cramps, Heat Exhaustions, and Heat Stroke (Treatment & Prevention).

Cold Weather Emergencies (1 hr):

Signs and symptoms related to Hypothermia, situations that make one vulnerable (even in warm climates), Treatment and Prevention.

Insects / Bites / Stings (1 hr):

Recognition of insects and snakes that present hazards. Bite and Sting First Aid. Allergic reaction recognition. (also covers Africanized Honey Bees).

GENERAL:

Confined Space Awareness (2 - 3 hrs):

This class includes recognition of Confined Spaces, the different hazards of confined spaces, mitigation of hazards, Lock Out / Tag Out and Hazard abatement for the worker.

Trenching and Shoring (1 hr):

Helps employees avoid accidents by teaching them safe excavation-site procedures. Focuses on OSHA-regulated safety measures and covers protection from hazards with water accumulation and hazardous atmospheres, and the design of support, shield, and other protective systems.

Driving Safety (3- 4 hrs):

Stresses the Importance of Driving Safely, Preparing to drive, Driving on Freeways, City Streets, Speeding, Parking, Drinking & Driving, Cell Phones & Texting (includes What to do in an Accident).

Sexual Harassment for Employees (1 hr):

Covers Defining Sexual Harassment, Potential Victims and Harassers, Inappropriate Workplace Behaviors, Preventing Sexual Harassment at Work and What to do if it occurs.

Sexual Harassment for Supervisors / Managers (1 hr):

Covers Managers and Their Role, What is Sexual Harassment, Types of Sexual Harassment, Potential Victims and Harassers, Effects of Sexual Harassment,Your Company's Sexual Harassment Policy and Investigative Procedures.

When Disaster Strikes & Work Place Emergencies:

Vital information employees must know to ensure safety in a workplace emergency. This class focuses on establishing an Emergency Action Plan and Written Policies & Procedures. it also covers, Fires, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Bomb Threats, Terror Threats, Explosions, Chemical Spills, Earthquakes, Work Place Violence, Blood Borne Pathogens. Emergency Drills, planning, testing and reporting. Disaster Plan & Development for Work and Home.

Training Enhancement “What’s Wrong With this Picture”:

Employees are asked to identify safety hazards in scenes from video clips. The segments are repeated with narration and graphics explaining what hazards or unsafe acts exist. This method utilizes employee participation to make the training more interesting.

Fall Protections (1-2 hr):

Standard railing, Safety Nets, Covers, Personal Fall Arrest Systems, ABC’s of PFAS, Required Fall Protection, Falling Object Hazards, and Training.

FIRE:

Fire Safety ( 1 hr):

This class teaches the student basics of fire behavior, classes of fires, methods of fire extinguishment and the proper use of Fire Extinguishers.

Fire Fighter I (200 + hrs):

This course receives a State of Florida certificate as a Fire Fighter I and enables the student to operate as a Fire Fighter in the State of Florida, (upon successfully passing the State of Florida exam).

Incipient Fire Training (24 hrs):

Teaches Fire Behavior, Extinguishing Agents, Water Streams, Fire Extinguishers and Hose Lines.

Vehicle Extrication (16 hrs):

Covers the basic concepts and techniques of vehicle extrication with practical evolutions.

Wild Land Fire Fighting:

Haz Mat Driver’s Training For Safe Transport (4 hrs):

Intro to Hazardous Materials & Regulations, License requirements, Classification of Hazardous Materials, Documentation, Packaging & Hazard Identification, Handling & Transport and Haz Mat Incidents.
